Lan Ha Bay is situated on an expanse of calm water in the east of Cat Ba Island and share the border with Halong Bay. It’s a beautiful bay of the Gulf of Tonkin with many distinctive features. Lan Ha Bay covers an area of 70 quare kilometers and has 54 square kilometers involved in the area of Cat Ba National Park.
The bay comprises 400 islands in both big and small sizes and all of them are covered by a layer of green tropical plants. Among the islands of Lan Ha Bay, many have become favorite sites of tourists on the holiday such as Guoc Islet (Wooden Shoe Islet), Doi Islet (Bat Islet), Sen Island, Cu Island, and Khi Island (Monkey Island). The islands divided Lan Ha Bay into several enclosed pits and small bays which many of them haven’t been discovered yet. Besides, the islands also have many spectacular caves like Ham Rong Cave, Do Tung Cave, and Ca Cave. To visit small bays and caves of Lan Ha Bay, tourists have to embark a local sampan ride or kayaking.
Lan Ha Bay is also known as an ideal place for beaching with 139 beautiful beaches. Tourists coming to Lan Ha Bay definitely will be dazzled by untouched seascape and refreshing atmosphere. The beaches are not so big but featured with cozy white sand originated from coral.
