It was a pretty long day, but a good one. The bus ride is about 4 hours each way, a good time to nap or meet your tripmates. The only downside of the tour came on the ride – a 30 minute stop-off at the most overpriced, tourist-rip-off craft center that could have been shortened to 10 minutes.
The whole Bay experience was good. The boat was about the level I wanted – not too new and posh, but still quite refined and well maintained. The food service was excellent, with multiple rounds of good veggies, meat, and seafood. Talking to friends that did other tours, this was above the standard for cruises in the area.
Everything went as advertized. We did a kayak break (though most other people chose to be paddled around on multi-person boats). We cruised around the bay and saw islands around us. We stopped on one to go through a cave. And then we headed home.
It was a pretty densely packed 4 hours around the bay, but you know that is what you are getting when you book only a 1-day cruise. And Alova does a good job of making it fun.
